Episode 66's ending was a bit of a mess, as Future Trunks kills the Merged Being with one slice, instead of screaming “Justice!” at him like a psychopath. With the action sequences, they slowly went from frame interpolation to just slowing them down, making them sloppy at times. Vegeta getting stabbed by Goku Black was a no-go, as well as many swearing (What the hell? You Bastard! Damn You! Son of a Bitch! Holy Crap!) Although, Goku's “Oh, Crap!” from episode 57 was somehow kept in from both sides (it was very faint) with the BBC mistakenly subtitling it as “Look Out!” Bulma flirting with Zamasu was eradicated by CBBC. Starting from episode 56, the censorship from both networks began to pick up miraculously. With the Future Trunks saga, starting from episode 53, majority of the death references were kept in, many of the action sequences or death scenes were kept to a minimum, keep in mind that they're showing Dragon Ball Super for a young audience here. This was because there were no more edited audio masters after episode 52, so Pop, and eventually CBBC, started to do the Censorship for themselves, based on the Toonami versions in America (The intros and outros were already sorted by Toonami). Many of the episodes during the Future Trunks saga and the Tournament Of Power are condensed to 19 or 18 minutes than the usual 23 (I think). This continued on until around the Future Trunks saga. General stuff like fighting had its framerates reduced to what seems to be GIFs at first, until the beginning of the Resurrection F arc, where they began frame blending the quick moving scenes, which in my eyes looked better. Trunks Kai flashback from episode 2 was cut short on Pop, whereas CBBC (the channel on BBC iPlayer that has DBS) cut it out altogether. However more was done to fit the target audience on Pop. Trunks Kai flashback, Eyecatchers, Next Episode previews)Įpisodes 1 to 52 have edited audio masters too to target those who wanted them. The censorship is relatively the same (violence condensed, swearing obliterated, frame rate ruined) however there were some additional cuts by the BBC themselves (Vegeta Vs. Turns out that the BBC iPlayer has gotten the same version of Dragon Ball Super from another kids channel in the UK, Pop (a channel aimed for younger kids), which explains most of the edits done. I've gone through a few forums saying that there's many edits being done to the anime's showing on the BBC.
